rivaRiva, sounds simple

But is made up of tangled detail

From the blood in Israel

To my flesh in America

And my breath in Saint Paul

From the naming of my great grandmother

Unique and unusual

And always mispronounced

Means so much more than R-I-V-A

My name is always your first impression

Complicated, unique, and mispronounced

A name is so much more than a word

It’s a personality

It’s me

Riva!
